Strickland Residence

Bainbridge Island, Washington
1986

The site for this 750-square-foot residence is a narrow west-facing waterfront parcel between two existing residences. The building position was further restricted by the desire to save existing major fir, cedar and madrona trees.

The owner wanted a small (second) residence on her land that would retain the wooded setting and would include a one-car garage, a small private garden and a single-level living space. Additionally, the home was to be designed to accommodate the potential for handicapped living.
