To accommodate the owner’s request for a large garage that would not dominate the land, this vaulted structure is dug deep enough into the earth to be invisible from the drive above. The steep hillside prohibited road construction, so drivers approach the 10,000-square-foot garage by driving in front of it on a heavy wooden trestle.

This garage holds twenty vehicles or two hundred and sixty people. The arches are high enough and the space large enough for a women’s collegiate basketball court.
